Mancat Monday and mom is mad as heck

We spent some time wif Little Pink Pig dis weekend!
We went over to Parker's house on Saturday fur a party while her beans entertained a bunch of other beans and we hadded a really good time! Mostly we hid in da back room wif LPP and tried not to lissen to mom grousing about dad being a cheap s.o.b. and a lazy slob. Don't read past here if you don't want to lissen to us whine.

Last March mom and dad sat down and thuroly went over der income, savings, investings and budget and dey bof agreed dat mom could quit her job. Well, dad now says dat he can't afford to keep paying effurything himself (he can, but he's a tightwad). Fur da last 32 years mom has paid half da household expenses (energy bills, mortgage, insurance, telephone...stuff like dat) and all of da food, veterinary expenses, birfday, shower, wedding and Krissmouse gifts, trips, she either paid fur or made all our curtains and drapes and most of our furniture. Heck, when dey bawted dis house she put down da downpayment and it was her credit and job history dat gots dem da mortgage. Dad was unemployed fur 3 year and mom and his dad carried him and mom added hims to her insurance until he gots a new jobbie. She did all dis so dey could save almost all of his paycheck. She has always done all of da housework by herself, but dat is because she would always re-do what dad had done so he just wouldn't do it anymore and dey did all da yardwork together. For six months after she quit her job she kept asking dad when he was going to add her to his insurance, he finally told her it cost to much and he wasn't going to do it. So mom has no health insurance either. Now he just announced dat he's gonna retire da end of December so she hasta get a job so he can be on her insurance and she can start paying her fair share. Did he forget dat she paid MORE den her fair share fur all dem years? So mom got mad and said he wasn't living up to da bargain dey made and he agreed dat as long as she took care of effurything at home he would pay da bills. She even showed him all da bills before he would agree to it. He won't even give her $5 to make a donation wif and den he goes and buys yet another light bulb dat cost dem a weeks worth of gas! He complains when dey go to da store dat groceries is to expensive and wants her to bake him cookies (which is fine wif mom) because dey cost to much at da store. He never said a word about da cost when she was paying, in fact he always bawt a lot of junk dat mom sed dey din't need. It all came to a head when he said dat he din't care what she thawt and he was retiring Dec. 29th whether she liked it or not and he was gonna stop paying fur her car insurance and giving her gas money and stuff. She said fine, I'll get a job but it will only be so I can leave you...and don't forget that if I divorce you I'll get half of everything anyway! That was Thursday, when he was home and getting in her way a lot. Friday and Saturday he acted like everything was fine and then Sunday morning he asked her if she had checked the job sites yet! Mom said "so, I guess you don't care if we get a divorce" and dad said "you're not serious, your just mad that you have to work now". Mom is mad at him, dey could both retire right now and live comfortably on what they have fur 15 years, and that doesn't include what they have invested and will be getting interest on when dey is legaly old in 11 years. Mom is mad at herself becawse she allowed dad to put da Money Market account and da retirement savings in his name and she can't write checks on it wifout his signature. Sorry to dump all dis on yoo guys, we is just struggling wif dad being a jerk and needed an outlet. Mom would talk to fambly about it but all dey will do is get mad at dad and she doesn't want that. They all know that she has sacrificed and not saved in her own name and told her from the start that she was dumb not to do so, all they would do is say "I told you so". Oh, and yesterday morning started off badly. First, Zippy bit mom to hard on da leg to wake her up and drew blood, den Sadie went berzerk over a woofie dat was in our yard and clawed up mom's arm pretty good and, well, I had tummy trubbels and direrear and poo'd on da bed, da gest room pillow and all over da carpet and den in a basket of clean clothes mom left in da liffing room. Mom should just sit and haf a good cry but she always sez all dat accomplishes is making yoo dehydrated and snotty.

Gosh, so sorry to hear all of this. And you cats certainly didn't help her any, now did you. You get up and start acting adorable and cuddly and give your Mom some support. She needs it.

Your poor mom! I'm so sorry things are going so rough. The big decision Mom and Dad have been struggling with is can they both retire? Dad is legally old, but Mom has a long way to go. If your mom wants to chat with mine, email me at tarameezer AT aol DOT com.

I hope your mom and dad can work things out.

My Mommy says that your Daddy is heading for a very bad wake-up call. When Mommy's have had it, they really have had it and it sounds as if your Mommy is close to that point. Now - you kitties "cat up" and start being sweet, soft, fluffy love muffins toward your Mommy, it's our duty when stuff like this happens!
Love and purrs,

Oh boy...we have no experience with husbands in this house but we do know how crucial it is to keep your word, be fair, and communicate clearly.
We know this sounds very lame, but do you guys watch Suze Orman on Saturday nights? We do, for as long as we can tolerate it, which is often only for the first half hour.
Nevertheless, your Mom's story sounds like a very very good one to consult Suze about! You can email it to her on her site, or go see how your mom can call in! She gives pretty good advice, and we would love to see her wail on your dad on TeeVee!
We're sorry for all the stress. Three massages this week for Mom.

We think your Dad is being very selfish and mean. It varies from state to state, but your Mum is entitled to half of Dad's stuff anyhow. She maybe could get a lawyer or private investigator to help. It sounds sneaky, but he sounds like a tricky man who might try some nasty stuff.

I wish we could help.

If she wants to blow off steam, she can email our mommy at themeezers AT gmail DOT com if she wants. Mommy is good a lissening and talking to! We agree wif the Tower Hill gang, your mommy should start planning to make shur that nothing happens to her money if she gets a new jobbie. If your daddy agreed to so somefing and then he backed out of it wifout even talking to your mom, that's just mean and unfair. We loves you guys!

Speedy dear, sometimes Moms & Dads argue and get upset. You can come over and rest by me and bring Sadie & Zippy too.

Mom says Whisk-onsin is a "community property" state (whatever that means) so your Mom already has half of everything. Plus she's a smart cookie so will figure out what's right for herself.

Sometimes men can be doo-doo heads! I think your mom works very, very hard making the house run smoothly, and she already did more than her fair share. I think your dad should stick to the deal that was already worked out. That is the fair and right thing to do.

My human wants to come over and kick your dad, is that OK?
We hope your mum is strong and stands up for herself.
I am glad we don't need health insurance here, that must be a big pain, well, we know it is from Uncle Sim in Montana.
Sending lots of floofy purrs (and Speedy, if you must poop somewhere outside the box, how about on dad's pillow?)

We are sorry you are going thru this and will be more than happy to come over and sink all of our claws into his leg and put the bitey on him. Purrs and hugs to your Mom; we hope he gets his head out of his you-know-what and treats her with the love and respect she deserves!!

I'm so sorry your Mom is going through this. Your Dad is much worse than a tightwad. After all she's done and her financial contributions, he's treating her horribly! I hope your Dad straightens up and soon. If he doesn't, your Mom should consider consulting a lawyer. Half of everything is HERS, the money is not all his to control.

Your Mom shouldn't feel bad for dumping all her problems in your blog. I can understand why she wouldn't want to tell family.

Big hugs to your Mom.

How terrible! It sounds like daddy needs a "wake up call" to reality. We had woofie friends who's mommy had to give their daddy one of those several years ago because of him not living up to his responsibilities. She filled for divorce and he realized she meant it! He saw the error of his ways and they remarried and are very happy now. Best case scenario I know, but it no fun to go on without the respect you deserve. ~Queen Snickers

If I were your human, I would get some legal advice, just incase. OR she could steal his bank card and go on a mega shopping spree? Or an excellent vacation maybe? There is always a spare room on the isle of wight if you all need somewhere to stay xx

Oh my goodness, we have NO experience with husbands in our household either. My mom isn't a truster of men, I'm afraid. Male cats are as far as she'll go. And she dislikes dealing with her own money and can't imagine the complications of sharing one's money.

That aside, we are familiar with pain. All of our hearts go out to you. I imagine that even the cats can feel the tension in the house and that's why they're easily upset right now. We're just that smart.

Those who have written above have given you great advice. We just want you to know that we feel for you. We hope that a happy resolution can happen quickly. We hope that the big guy comes to his senses soon.

We are worried for you not having health insurance. It's that's man's responsibility to take care of you, to treasure you. He needs a kick in the pants or a lawyers knock on the door. Opps...there comes the advice we didn't want to give.

Best of luck to you. Don't be afraid to vent on here. I think there are a lot of good people around.

Hugs, from Tyler's family
