OliverMy best friend and former neighbor, the one I used to watch thru our office window and who used to come over and talk to me when we were outside, the one that moved away. You may remember a few years ago he got hit by a car and ruptured his diaphram and broke his leg and had major surgery to save his life. Well, he came to visit me yesterday! It was super fun, Sadie remembered him and hissed hello then ran into the back room to hide. Speedy greeted him like a long lost brofur wif a sniff or two den he just laid down on his Gizzy and observed. I on the other hand was ankshus fur him to come out of da carrier and play and talk and lounge wif me. We had a nice afternoon together and it was over all to soon. I sure miss him. Mom misses his mom, Germaine, too. Dey hadded tea and talked and laffed and mom sniffled a little bit when dey left. In other news, it's been below zero here with really scary wind chills. Now Nick is a wonder with the feral colony he's taking care of but mom still worried about them so she went over there one very cold evening just to check. Her and dad stuck thermometers inside the shelters and guess what, it was 55 degrees inside da shelters! Dat heat set up dat Nick made fur dem is amazing! He told mom he had to "up the amps" on the water dishes to keep ice from forming but they were all still water and mom took da temp and it was 38 degree water. She also went to the other colony with their caretaker on Thursday morning and added "thermal wrap" (which is like a nylon blanket with thinsulate) to the shelters. Theirs were only 40 degrees but dat is better den da below zero it was outside! We worry about all the ones that don't have a caretaker or a warm home. We hope they found warm places to hide.
