On Monday the 9th mom got a call from the sister of an old friend, mom's friend lost her battle with cancer and died on Monday morning...mom saw her Saturday afternoon, which she was furry grateful for cuz they talked and laffed and cried and just acted like dey were, well, normal. Not like they were saying goodbye fur the last time, just hanging out and being friends like they're suppose to do. So, the sister says she is flying in to finish up the memorial service and take care of stuff, you know, the things you hafta do when someone leaves you behind. She's kinda worried cuz she's never had to do anything like this afore and mom and dad have done it a few times now, so, mom talks to dad and dad sez it's a good idea for her to stay here with us and mom will help her with the arrangements and all the other 'legal' stuff. Anyway, Tuesday mom drives to the airport (something she hates doing) to pick up her friend's sister (they are also friends cuz dey are only like a couple years apart in age) and, oh oh, it's not just her but also her two kids! So, mom brings them here, dad comes home, they order Chinese food fur everyone and the friend sez dat she should get a hotel cuz mom wasn't expecting the kids too and that her hubby couldn't get off work to take care of them and they're not in school now and, well, it would be too much. Mom is about to suggest that they stay at one that is close by and that she'll take her there and pick her up in da morning and they can get started on taking care of stuff when dad just blurts out "oh, you can stay here, it's no problem". Uh, dad, where are we going to put 3 extra people? So, the first nite The Kids, henceforth known as TEAM DESTRUCTION slept on the trundle pop-up bed and The Friend, henceforth known as 'D' slept on the daybed. Mom slept in da big bed wif dad...this was a mistake. She didn't sleep much and got some new bruises, dad doesn't just snore or toss and turn. No, dad grumbles, snores, talks, thrashes and throws punches and knees in his sleep. From then on mom slept on the couch in the basement, 'D' slept on the couch in the living room and TEAM DESTRUCTION slept on the daybed and trundle. We all hid for most of their stay, or tried to. Let's look into the goings on shall we...
Wednesday - Mom and dad are up at the usual time (5 am), we get fed, dad leaves for work, D and TD (TEAM DESTRUCTION) finally roll out of bed about 4 hours later! Mom hadda be kinda quiet because they were sleeping...translation, she got nothing done! Finally, everyone showers (including mom) and after about another 3 hours they are ready to start the day. It's now after noon and mom has done one thing-showered/dressed! The TD has eaten all the cereal and polished off a gallon of milk. They've also - stepped in Sadie's bowl of CatMilk, dumped my plate of stinky goodness, chased Sadie behind the couch, made Zippy hiss a squillion times and I've decided being with the kittens is better than being anywhere neer THEM!
Off they go to talk to the funeral beans, mom's friend and 'D's' sister has already made her own arrangements and all they need to do is make the final payment...D writes check and they're all set. Mom sez that was the easiest funeral she's ever arranged, they now have the "itinerary" of what 'K' wants. Kewl. It's now 4 pm and mom stops at the grocery store, more cereal and one of those 2 packs of milk and a ton of stuff fur cooking cuz D and TD will be with us the rest of the week! Dad beats mom home and when mom gets there, with D and TD he wants to know what happened to all the towels - oops. Mom goes downstairs and throws in a load of towels. It's a good thing we have one of those jinormus front load washers! Mom comes upstiars and starts dinner. TD is busy causing cats to have nervous breakdowns. D had suddenly realized that her sister is gone and is crying uncontrolably, dad sits with her and talks, between telling TD that the kitties don't want to play "hang by the tail" or "lay on the kitty"! Dinner is ready, kids don't like baked mustacolli and instead want McDogdoos! Dad indulges and drives them to get crap burgers...everyone watches a movie and goes to bed. Mom stays up to wash another load of towels, dry and fold them....
Thursday - Same as Wednesday except instead of funeral home they go to flower shop, D ends up paying for crystal swan TD broke in shop and flower arrangement that was in it...mom gets to keep the flowers! More whining about McDogdoos at dinner (pork chops) this time mom gives D car keys and she takes them for crap burgers. More washing, towels, sheets younger gerl got juice on and dad is mumbling a lot!
Friday - Mom wakes D up earlier than 9 am by vacuuming - TD has managed to destroy small feather pillow they brought along and fought over. D gets kids up, more showers, cereal all gone, milk all gone, dad has decided he needs to work the overtime and left! Mom takes D and TD to lawyers office to see about K's estate at 12:30, kids sit in lobby and whine about being hungry, they want McDogdoos - mom sees why they're both
Saturday - Funeral starts at 1 pm, D and TD take their time getting ready...they're late getting to funeral home! Mom sez the service is very nice, no sad music, no bad memories...just lots of loving momories and beans celebrating a life that was way to short....D takes mom and dad out to dinner (not at McDogdoos) to thank them for putting up with TD and making everything so much easier for her. TD is well behaved at dinner except for spilled iced tea - no biggie, stuff happens. They come home, TD sees Sadie run behind couch, they look for her and can't find her, mom sez that's because she is actually under the couch. TD then proceeds to try and pull attached cushions off said couch to get to kitty. Now, our furniture is 15 years old and seen better days. It's clawed on one corner (dad covered it with a carpet square) and one arm is nothing but stuffing hanging out. That's why mom keeps it covered. But, our cushions up until this point were still attached! One is almost completely ripped off and another now has a hole in it! Mom is taking asparin and washing more towels for tomorrow morning...
Sunday - Mom wakes everyone up early (hehehe) they shower, eat cereal (all gone again and so is the milk). They load up dad's van and drive them to the airport, they all get on a plane and GO HOME. Yahoo, things are starting to be normal again. Mom takes the sheets and stuff off the day bed and trundle but doesn't wash them, she does wash the couch covers and sews the cushions up. She vacuums and cleans up a little. Our house looks like someone turned a pack of wild dogs loose in here. Zippy, Sadie and I are seen in daylight for the first time in 5 days.
Mom is sleeping in today, dad sez he didn't loose any sleep...mom just glared at him. He said he was sorry, he wasn't thinking when he said they should stay here. Mom says, that's okay, wait till you get the food and water bills and laffed like a crazy lady.

Oh Speedy, what a terrible weekend you had. Why didn't you 3 come over here? Shasta is visiting but she's OK. It would have been better than dealing with TD!
