Hot, hot and more hot!

Well, it's been really hot here all week. We'z lucky, we'z gots a thing dat makes cold air blow outta all da vents and keeps our house nice and cool. Da colony cats aren't so lucky. Sue, Nick and Mom came up wif a way to help dem stay cool, besides da shade at all three colonies. Mom filled a 50 gallon water barrel wif filtered water and haf been filling our downstairs freezer wif foil pans of water. Nick put a filter on da basement fawset and mom uses a hose to fill da barrel now. She just puts da water on and lets it run all day a'cuz Nick put something on der called a "float" dat stops da water when da barrel is full. So, effury night when she comes home she can fill more pans and freeze dem. Mom sez dat it's mindless work dat helps her alax after being wif dad all day. She just stands in front of da freezer and holds a pan, pumps once and puts da pan on an empty shelf. "Easy peasy" she sez. Da volunteer ladies come effury morning to pick up lots of ice fur da kitties. Da first day dey did this da naybor stood outside and watched dem load cooler after cooler in da van, da second day he and his son came over and helped carry da coolers upstairs. Oh, and da air conditioning broke in da van so when mom drives over to da hopspittal she gets all hot and sweaty, den when she gets to dad's room she starts shivering 'cuz he keeps it at about 68 degrees. Our daddy is going da operating room tomorrow fur skin grafts, da surjun was suppose to do it Friday but he sez our dad is ready now and he wants to do it as soon as possible so he haf more time to heal up. After dey make sure da skin grafts is taking (dat means his owies accept da skin and start healing) he will be moved to re-hab on da top floor of da hopspittal. Dis is all taking way to long fur us kitties and we wish dey could fitz him faster so he could come home. We not only miss our daddy but our mom is gone all day long! Oh, she still scoops da poops twice a day and gives us our stinky goodness breakfast and we all pile in her bed at night, but, what about our afternoon naps...we don't haf mom to sleep wif and der is no red dot game afore our late afternoon, afore supper naps. Oh, and no tasty treats from dropped stuff when she's cooking, she don't cook now! And we'z missing out on french toast and bacon on Sunday! Dis hasta stop, we are not meant to suffer like dis.

We are glad to hear your dad is feeling well enough to have surgery again. We've been purring for him and your mama to stay well too. Sometimes mom's forget to take care of themselves when they are taking care of someone else.

We like how the feral colony is getting ice chunks every day - sometimes Mom will put ice in our water too.

Purrs,

Cody and Gracie

Your Mom is a smart cookie to figure out how to keep the ferals cool. Henry has ice in his water dish here.
Purrs for your Dad's grafts to take, and his continuing recovery.

We are sending mega purrs for your dad and hope the skin grafts take and heal well. Your mom is amazing how she visits your dad in hospital and still manages to look
after all those feral cats. What a great way to keep the water cool for you and the ferals.

I hate the HOTS. I am glad you guys are staying cool, but it sounds like life is ROUGH with your mom gone all the time. It is unacceptable that you have to nap alone and that you don't get persons foods! You should pee on something to show your rage!

Speedy dear, you're looking 'specially handsome today. Thank you for your sweet comments about my eyebrows.

We can all come over and keep you company while your Mom is gone all day and we're sending healing purrs for your Dad.

Love,
Misty
