Kitties are Here!

Mom's down in the foster kitty room. Earlier Marva was acting like she was ready to nest and mom kept checking on her but she was just laying around in the foster room so she thought she must be wrong. She went to bed and then about an hour ago Speedy started running up and down the stairs meowing like he was crazy and mom got up and went down there and Marva was having her kittens. She's had two so far and is doing a really good job cleaning them and (this is gross so if you don't want to know skip the part in yellow) eating the placentas. Mom thinks this isn't the first litter she's ever had and that's sad. We know there's at least one more coming because she's still standing up and turning her head back toward the birth canal. The first one was kinda white and spotty and the second looked like a tabby! We can't wait to see the next. Mom's done this before but she always gets so excited. Dad even got up and came to see, and he hasta be up for work in about 3 hours. Oh, and mom's partner in foster, Olivers mom, trapped the male we think is the dad and he had tags but still had his hoo-has so she contacted the owner and gave them information about low cost nooter and they said they were going to do it. don't worry, mom and Germaine will make sure they do. Well, gotta go back to birthing the babies::giggle::~Sadie

pee ess: mom will try to get some pikshers when Marva is done having the babies and they are a little cleaner!

As promised - kitten picture!

I probably won't get any better as mom got mad at me after only two pictures! As you can see there at the top is a little tabby, next is one that looks all white but has yellow/orange rings around it's tail and the little one on the bottom has calico markings along with the ringed tail! I sat with momma for a couple hours and she's wonderful. It's rather dim in the foster room and I had to use the flash to get pictures. After the first flash she covered the kittens with her body. Every time I moved, she covered the kittens! Very protective. Sorry to disappoint any of you looking for kittens but we have 9 homes lined up for 3 kittens! This is a first for me and I'm thinking all our work on people to get their pets fixed is starting to work. As Martha says, It's a good thing.

Tuesday, March 6 - 6:40 p.m.

Speedy here - When dad gots home he went to see da babies and I snuck in and gess what - Marva din't effun get mad at me or hide da babies or nuthing. She let me look at dem! Course daddy wuz sitting rite there, but I woodent haf hurt dem or anything. I even licked one of 'em. Oh, da homes mom haz lined up are furry good and will haf da kitties fixed and take dem to da vet and stuff. She's haffing a lottery thing and putting names in a hat and haffing M draw da names for where da kitties will go. Dat won't happen until da end of April. Da kitties will stay wif der mom until May. In a couple of weeks dey and der momma will go back to M's howse. Until den WE HAF BABIES!

How exciting! Can't wait to see the pictures!

Mom had a similar conversation this weekend with the lady down the street with a big orange male cat that comes around, and has his hoo haas. But Mom didn't think she made much progress....sigh

That's good that your mom and Germaine will make sure they have him neutered! There are too many unwanted cats in the world. If my dad wasn't allergic to cats (except for Sphynx) we would adopt another cat from a shelter, but sadly he can only tolerate Sphynx.

It sounds like Marva is a good mom and knows exactly what to do. I hope all the kittens find good Forever Homes!

Kitties are always such good Mommas. Even little Precious, a kitten herself, raised her two babies to be fatter than her, giving everything to them.
